The [ BADGER ] FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AUTO COMPANY
It is 1939. The FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AUTO COMPANY (FWD) seeks a more efficient means for company business travel. The railroad service to Clintonville is diminished (due to the exhaustion of allowable regional logging of timber resources) along with existing improved paved (and, unimproved dirt/gravel/stone) roads deteriorating making bus and automobile travel miserable and time consuming. FWD Advertising Director - Francis M. Higgins is called to meet with the FWD President, Walter A. Olen.
FWD acquired a used four seat WACO Bi-plane aircraft in trade for a FWD Truck, for company business commutes (such as from Clintonville, Wisconsin to Milwaukee (Wisconsin) or Chicago (Illinois) or Minneapolis (Minnesota) and back). The directive to Higgins is short and clear - Get down to the air field and see what can be done about leveling the surface, Lindbergh couldn't land on that field. Francis M. Higgins just became Head of the newly created FWD Flight Department. As the year progresses into 1940 yet another WACO has been acquired through purchase, and, the WACO's (NC13434 and NC2270 ) prove themselves as an asset to FWD.
Soon other Clintonville area Businessmen have worked themselves into space available (from time-to-time) seating on the FWD WACO's. The FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AUTO COMPANY begins to anticipate more the aspect of the local need for air transportation services.

The WACOs were the threshold into aviation history for Walter A. Olen
By 1941 FWD accomodates the aspect of the local need for air transportation services by purchasing a new five place HOWARD DGA-15P as local area demand for air transportation increases beyond the capacity of the two WACO's.

The addition of the 1940 HOWARD DGA-15P over-fuselage fixed-wing Mono-plane aircraft to the existing Bi-plane WACO's develops into daily route flights replacing the two (or, three) times a week FWD had been flying with the WACO's alone.
With the advent of all three aircraft flying to accomodate the local area need, air transportation services for Clintonville was now a reality - due to the HOWARD DGA-15P purchase.
The FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AUTO COMPANY Corporate Flight Department had evolved into an at-large accessible ...Air Taxi Service (un-Incorporated) departing/arriving Clintonville, Wisconsin.
